Dear Mom,

Please stop sending things to me at work to print for you. You don't do it a whole lot, but it's still annoying considering the fact that you are retired and therefore have all day long to take your damn printer somewhere to get it fixed. It hasn't been working for months now and yet you still haven't done anything at all about it. Why?!

I, on the other hand, still have to work 40 hours a week. I'm tired when it's time to go home and quite frankly the chances of me actually remembering to print the thing out for you and bring it with me at that point are slim to none. With the way my memory is, I will completely forget about it until the moment I pull in the driveway and then I want to shoot myself because I know you'll ask about it. :\

So in conclusion, you would have had the paper in your hand by now if you had just fixed the printer.

Personally, I fail to see how, while knowing Vanitas was out to get Ventus, leaving Ven behind when he finally wanted to come with her shows that Aqua's acting with Ven's interest in mind. If she wanted to protect him so much, then not taking him back to LoD, but staying with him, wouldn't that have been the best course of action? I realize it was done for the sake of the individual character gameplay but regardless, Aqua left Ven behind when she needed to stay by his side the most. It paints her in a bad light, both with the concern for his safety as well as how she sees Ven

Aqua on the other hand steps beyond the line of being over protective. She's suffocating and that also shows how she sees Ven - she doesn't believe in him. I mean, he survived up to that point and helped you and Terra take down that huge Unversed, didn't he? Can't you believe he'll manage just a bit on his own without you holding his hand?

... So Aqua is a bad person for not staying with Ven and protecting him and yet she also needs to stop smothering him and give him space to manage on his own. I just... what? These are two completely opposite viewpoints! I guess in this chick's mind Aqua is damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. Lovely.

I also love how she's basically complaining about Aqua leaving Ven behind at RG and yet conveniently ignores the fact that Terra did the exact same thing. And it's probably worse in his case because at this point in the game he's the only one of the three of them who knows that Vanitas was created out of Ven. But I guess it's a-okay to do that if you're a guy and horrible if you're a woman. Or something.

Bah. I really should know better than to read any post this chick makes. She always gets on my nerves and her arguments rarely ever make any sense at all, at least IMO. I mean, there's nothing wrong with not liking a character but her reasons for not liking certain characters just don't seem to have any real basis in the actual facts of the games. She seems to just completely misunderstand stuff and twist it to her own liking, and then never actually admit it if someone points out to her how exactly she is wrong...

Urgh, alright, I'm done. I guess it's not really nice of me to go on bitching about other fans. :\

No seriously, I do. Why the hell can I not just have a computer that doesn't have effing stupid problems all the goddamn time?! First with my previous one the Mac harddrive up and died on me or screwed up or something and I lost everything on it. Then I bought this one and first the DVD drive went kaput and now it seems like the video card is trash too because every day or so I'll be on the computer and the screen will suddenly just become pixelated with color bars for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Or it will just go to black, again for no discernible reason. And there's not a damn thing I can do about it but force a reboot to get it working again.

There are not enough words in English or any other language to express how sick and tired I am of this crap. I'm on the verge of just saying the hell with it and buying another computer instead of trying to get this one fixed, because I don't want to have to deal with the hassle of dragging this worthless piece of junk to a shop somewhere to see what's wrong with it. I just want to throw it out a goddamn window and be done with it.

After spending 15 years on the internet, I wonder sometimes if I've become intolerant of other people's opinions. Because there are some people that just boil my blood, and not even over things that are actually important but just stupid fandom opinion stuff. There are some people whose opinions I disagree with but don't get angry over, and then there are others that just make me want to reach through my screen and smack them because I can't even begin to fathom where their stance is coming from.

I came across a journal post from one of the latter today and... yeah, I'm kinda annoyed now. I should have known better than to read it because I've seen this person around before and they hold other opinions that I find equally annoying. I don't know why I read it. I"m a glutton for punishment sometimes I guess. :\

But yeah, I don't like that this bothers me so much... I dunno, times like these I think I should probably just get off the internet once and for all and be done with it. It's really not worth the headache sometimes.

[ profile] wow_ladies has pissed me off so much this month that I finally decided to just leave the community. And I don't regret it either. First it was the whole reaction to the RealID thing. Not that I blamed people for being upset over it or anything, but some of them took on really condescending and holier-than-thou attitudes towards the people who didn't instantly cancel their subscriptions and that really bothered me. Especially when they dismissed those people as not caring about the situation at all just because they didn't jump to follow what the crowd was doing. Gee, I don't know, maybe they prefered to protest in another way? Maybe they had good reasons for not being able to cancel their subscriptions right at that moment? Ever bother to think of that? Morons.

Then there's the attitude of the mods. In one thread there was a poster who was acting like a jerk, but instead of doing something about it the mods just bitched back at them instead. One of the mods even indicated that they'd had problems with this person causing trouble before. So why the friggin hell didn't they just exercise their damn power and ban him/her instead of acting like a bunch of children about it? Idiots.

And then today I happened to follow a non_WoW related link to the [ profile] sf_drama community and what do I see but a post by one of the [ profile] wow_ladies members snarking about someone's comment in a recent post on that community. Which is in direct violation of one of the wow_ladies rules, "Do not repost material from within the community in drama and/or snark communities for the specific purpose of mocking members". And two of the wow_ladies mods are members of sf_drama and even commented on the post, which says to me that they don't care about enforcing their own damn rule at all. Now, I don't really care whether people want to snark on others or not. If they do, that's fine. Sometimes people deserve it. However, you can't have it both ways. Snarking on your own community members is either okay or it isn't. If you think it's okay, then don't have a damn rule saying that it isn't. That makes you a hypocrite.

So yeah, I'm glad to be rid of that place.

I mean I really just can't believe this. So I bought another iMac off of ebay because I was sick of dealing with the slowness and all the problems of the old one. It arrived on Monday, I get it set up and everything seems to be working great. Tonight I go to eject a disk from the drive and it doesn't do anything at first. I try and drag the disk icon down to the trash to eject it and the Pinwheel of Doom starts spinning. I wait a minute or so, nothing continues to happen. I try restarting the computer. Now the disk icon has vanished completely and the computer is not even acknowledging that the disk drive even exists at all. When I go look at the System Profiler it says that I don't have one connnected to the computer. So now the damn disk is stuck in there and I have no idea how to get it out...

I just don't understand what happened. Should I not have restarted while the pinwheel was still spinning? Did that inadvertantly kill the drive? Did it just decide to randomly commit suicide because the universe hates me and wants to raise my blood pressure even more? I've had this thing for only an effing week, and this is pissing me the hell off. I am so sick and tired of these stupid problems. >_

Well, I finally managed to get the OS disk to boot up so I could delete the Mac partition and install a new one. Finished with that, and so far everything seems to be working fine. I discovered that I had made DVD backups for my Iphoto library and genealogy files, so at least those weren't entirely lost. What really cheeses me the most though is the loss of all my bookmarks. Now I'm going to have to go find all those pages again. >:( The ones I've used the most recently will be easy to remember, and I can probably find most of the genealogy pages I had saved again eventually. But the stuff from my older fandoms is probably gone for good. I mean, I guess it doesn't matter really since I didn't ever look at those pages anymore anyway, but it would have been nice to still have them just in case I was ever in the mood for a trip down memory lane. *sighs*

Anyway, hopefully my computer won't get corrupted again and will at least be able to last until I can eventually get a new one. So crisis averted... for now.

You and your stupid ass idea of putting pvp into a raid instance can bite me. This is completely effing ridiculous.

Big bunches of nerdrage directed at you from me.

Ugh, I should have known better than to get into an arguement with someone on the Moon Guard forums. It's kinda pathetic how many wanna-be internet badasses hang out in there thinking they're so cool for being jerks. I should probably just stop going there at all. There are some nice people and interesting discussions sometimes, but overall it isn't really worth it. -_-

So, I see Bael has bumped the recruitment post saying they're still looking for more of any class. I so want to say something snarky in response there, like "So first you're recruiting, then you're apparently not recruiting (even though no one bothered to tell the officers that), and now you're recruiting again. Make up your mind, will ya?"

*sigh* I guess there's really no point in starting up more drama though. Their hypocrisy is still continuing to piss me off. :\

I'm getting heartily sick and tired of posts that basically go "ELL-OH-ELL, I don't care about Harry Potter and I shall say so to be a rebel and combat the MANIA11!!@1". Seriously, I don't care whether you like it or not. Just shut the hell up already.

Quite frankly, I'm just sick and tired of all fandoms and the internet and general. Every single person online can go take a flying leap for all I care.

Oh good grief, here we go again. People are freaking out over spoilers for the second issue of the new Buffy comics and going "Oh noes! How can Joss hurt my poor widdle shipper heart so?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!". Bah. I am so freaking sick and tired of people getting upset about anything that might (GASP OH NOES!) get in the way of their precious ship of choice. I'm so so glad that I'm over Spuffy and don't really care anymore. Except that I still have to see this crap on my friends list. Thanks for making everyone regress back to 2003, Joss. Thanks a whole heaping lot. -__-;

I'm beyond angry right now. I'm downright murderous. Windows is a giant pile of horse manure. I just lost six and a half hours worth of work because I accidently hit some random key and the program I was working in started screwing everything up. I didn't have the faintest clue what to do to fix it and I hadn't made a backup file, so now I have no choice but to start over again. I've never had this kind of crap happen when I'm in the MacOS.

You suck, Microsoft. Your OS is crappy and clunky and if I had a choice in the matter I wouldn't ever touch the stupid thing with a 100 foot pole. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with having to use the stupid thing to work. I hate you. And I also hate this goddamned job more than words can express.

Well, I guess I sort of dropped off the face of the planet there for a little while. And I've been.... well, I haven't been doing anything all that interesting actually. I've just been avoiding LJ lately and wallowing in anime nostalgia as I continue to try and transfer all of my tapes over to DVD. I'd talk more about what I've been watching, but I'm sure it'd bore you all to death. :)

Oh, and I'm also officially the last person in Western civilization to get a cell phone. My mom got me one for the trip to Dragon*Con, since it turns out I'll probably be going there by myself. Which is just as well, i guess since the only hotel room I could get was one with only one bed. I wish I could have gotten one in the con hotel itself, but when I tried using the codes the website gave, it kept telling me that no rooms were available for the dates i wanted, so I guess they were all booked. Oh well. A hotel a block or so away is certainly better than nothing.

And cutting for a brief fandom-related loss of temper. It's a flame, really, so skip if you want to. )

First the good stuff. I just finished reading the Tales of the Slayers comic tonight, and damn was it good! I love learning more about the Slayers of the past and all the different art styles are very pretty. I think my favorite stories were "Rightous" and "Presumption", although it's hard to choose because they're all so interesting. I really liked how the story in "Rightous" was told in rhyme, but geez that ending was disturbing and depressing. "Presumption" is probably the most light-hearted story of the bunch. Not in a funny, wacky kind of way, but the tone definitely isn't as serious as the rest of the book. The interaction between the Slayer and vampire was great, with a kind of dry, 1800's British-style banter. Also, it was written by my gal Jane Espenson. I heart JE. :)

"Sonnenblume" had the most unique artstyle. All of the other stories had fairly realistic drawings, but "Sonnenblume" has this really weird style where all the characters look very cartoony and....well....strange. I'm not really sure how to describe it, but I'm wondering whether that's simply the artist's own style or if they chose to draw it that way for a specific reason. The story is set in 1938 in Germany, so maybe the artist was copying some sort of German art style? Or I could just be reading too much into it. :P I had to look up what "sonnenblume" meant, though. The Jewish bakery lady keeps calling the Slayer that, even though the girl's real name is Anni. I figured it had to be some type of endearment, so I looked it up on Sherlock, and it's German for "sunflower".

And now for the ranting portion of the evening.
