I'm in a picture-posting kind of mood tonight, so I guess I'll put up some of my vacation photos that we took with the digital camera and underwater cameras. I already talked about most of this stuff earlier, so the commentary is brief. But at least the pictures are very pretty. :) Also, you can click on any of them in order to see the larger version.

Geez, that took a lot longer than I thought it would. Still, I had fun doing it. Now I really need to go to bed so I can hopefully get up early enough to be able to retape 'Potential'.

God, it's good to be back. Don't get me wrong, I would've been quite happy to stay on the ship for another week or two, but the drive back home has completely wiped me out. It was at least 95 degrees today and the car had no air-conditioning. Ugh.

Anyway, I see I've got a lot to catch up on in my friends list. I'm downloading the last episode of Angel now, and after I watch that then I can read up on y'all's reactions. In the meantime, here's the first part of my vacation report.

Well, that's all for right now. Hopefully Brian will come over and download the pictures from the digital camera to my computer in the next few days so I can post them here.

Check it out! I'm posting from the middle of the ocean at the ship's onboard internet cafe. Cool. :)

Anyway, I have nothing too exciting to report yet. We won't reach the first island until tomorrow morning, and then we'll go on our first shore excursion. We're planning on swimming with the stingrays, which I've heard is an experience not to be missed. It should be interesting, since I've never been any closer to a stingray than you could get at an aquarium. I wish we had more time at Grand Cayman, though. It's only going to be a half-day stop and they'll have to ferry us to shore via boat, which will take up some time. Oh well, I guess that's all the more reason to come back again someday, eh? ;)

Our ship is called the Sensation and is part of the Carnival Cruise line. This thing is huge! Our cabins are on the lowest level, right near the waterline, so in order to get anywhere, we either have to climb stairs all the time or wait for the elevator. I'm probably going to end up with great leg muscles after the trip from all the walking I have to do. :) They have great food here and lots of activities, although I haven't participated in any yet. Actually, I've spent most of the day so far either reading or just staring out at the water. It's really nice to be able to simply do nothing at all and forget about stuff like time or even what day it is.

Last night we went to our first shipboard dinner. It was casual dress, which is good because I don't really own anything formal to wear. I didn't really see anything I wanted to eat from the menu for the main course, though, so I just ordered an appetixer of chicken in peanut butter sauce. It was pretty good, actually. I had two plates of that and then cake for dessert. Our waiter was a really sweet guy named Julian, he was from Honduras. He seemed genually concerned about me when I didn't order anything for the main meal. :) We all liked him so much that Mariah insisted on getting a picture of him before we left.

After dinner, we went out on the deck. It's so dark out here at night! You can't see anything at all, not even the horizon. Nothing but the stars and the water immediately around the ship. Being out here has really made me realize just how big the Caribbean really is. When you look at it on a map, it's like 'Oh, well it's not really so big. Look how close the islands are". But after sailing for most of last night and all of today without seeing anything but water everywhere you look, I have a better appreciation of just how much distance there is between everything. And I would really hate to be marooned out here, especially at night. How on earth would anyone ever be able to find you in darkness like that?

Anyway, I should really wrap this up. I think I've already run out of my allotted time and am paying 50 cents a minute for each minute after that, so I don't want to run up too much of a bill.

At last! Today's my last day of work for a whole week! I'm so excited! It's going to be a great trip!

Anyway, I may as well post this now since I'm not sure if I'll have time to do it later or not.

Angel 5.21 - Power Play )

I hope everyone has a great week and enjoys the last episode of Angel. I'm sure there will be plenty of great discussion for me to catch up on when I get back next Friday. :)
