So, TNT was showing 'Soul Purpose' this afternoon and as I watched I realized that I had forgotten about that piece of rock with the symbols carved on it that Eve gave Wesley. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't those symbols turn out to be the same kind as Lindsey's tattoos? Was there ever any explanation as to why Eve would give something like that away? The obvious answer of course would be that she was trying to double cross him, but she seemed to be genuinely in love with him throughout the rest of the show, and I don't remember any doublecrossing ever brought up. So is it just me, or is anyone else still horribly confused by all this?

I wish that the whole Spike and "Doyle" helping-the-helpless thing could have lasted longer than just a couple of episodes, though, because that was such fun to watch. And I really like Angel's dreams, too, although the part where Fred says that he's nothing but a hollow shell is rather creepy now, knowing what's going to happen to her in just four more episodes. Come to think of it, her expression in the dream sequence where everyone is in Angel's bedroom waiting for him to sing is disturbingly blank, much like Illyria's.

Is it just me or has it been unusually quiet around here the last couple of days?

Anyway, after months of forgetting to catch the Angel reruns on TNT, I decided to turn it on today and was surprised to see that they're showing Season 5 now. Woo! I'm excited! I've never actually seen the season on the t.v. screen before. We don't have a WB station here, so I had to download the episodes as they aired and watch on my computer. And for some reason most of the time the picture was so dark that I had a hard time seeing what was going on. So hopefully it will be much easier to see on the actual tv. Now, if I can only remember to tune in every day....

My Season 7 rewatch is coming along slowly but surely. Just finished "Help" last night, so maybe I can get up through CWDP tonight. Except that I don't think I want to watch that one at night again. Once was enough, thanks. Every other time I've watched it has been during the day, 'cause the stuff with Dawn in the house always creeps me out. *shudders* I've had lots of thoughts for my Season 7 post, but I'm having a hard time trying to think of how to say them. Erghh... This is turning out to be much more difficult than I thought it would be. :(

And I still have to finish watching Firefly, too. Whenever I have the ability to watch something at my leisure, I always end up being a slowpoke about it. Hence all the DVDs I still have yet to watch. But I'll get to it soon, hopefully.

I wish I could think of something intelligent to say, but this stupid cold has eaten my brain. Not that it's going to stop me from posting my few thoughts on the Angel finale, though. I still can't quite believe it's all really over. *sobs*

At last! Today's my last day of work for a whole week! I'm so excited! It's going to be a great trip!

Anyway, I may as well post this now since I'm not sure if I'll have time to do it later or not.

Angel 5.21 - Power Play )

I hope everyone has a great week and enjoys the last episode of Angel. I'm sure there will be plenty of great discussion for me to catch up on when I get back next Friday. :)

Angel 5.19 - Time Bomb )

I really enjoyed watching JM on the Sharon Osbourne show last night too, even though I had to stay up 'til 1 o'clock in the morining to see it. I totally heart him. He's just so goofy and adorable that I can't help but laugh. The main reason why I wanted to watch though was to see Ghost of the Robot perform. I've never heard them play before, and I've seen so many people say they they're not good that I wasn't really expecting much. I ended up being rather pleasantly surprised. Certainly not the greatest thing I've ever heard, but I thought they were pretty good. And I now have the strangely overwhelming urge to see James sing again. Damn. Why didn't I think to tape the show?

I enjoyed last night's Angel, although not quite as much as last week's, but right now all I can think about is

Next week's episode )

I forgot that I hadn't posted anything here about last week's Angel episode yet. I kept meaning to, but I just never got around to it. Guess I might as well do it now before tonight's episode finished downloading.

Actually, all I really wanted to say was that I absolutely love Happy!Connor. Vincent Kartheiser was fantastic, and I love how well he and DB play off each other. And I'm so very proud of Connor for choosing a healthy normal life over going back to the way he used to be. Err... he did get his memories back, right? I think that's what happened, but it isn't 100% clear.

Anyway, I really liked his line to Angel about his father having taught him the importance of protecting one's family. I've seen a couple of people speculate that he was actually referring to Holtz here, but I disagree. IMO, that was Connor's way of thanking Angel for giving him a second chance at life and saying that he understands now that his father really does love him. I think it was a moment of closure, albeit a bittersweet one, that they both needed, so I'm glad they got the chance to meet again.

This episode is also a good example of why I feel so torn over the whole mind-wipe issue. One the one hand, I think it was the right thing to do for Connor, the only way to save him. But on the other, I'm annoyed at Angel for letting his friends lose their memories too. Couldn't he have asked that they be excluded, too, or was there no time for that? Then again, even if there was time, I doubt it would ever have occurred to Angel to save the gang's memories. He seems to think that he's the only one who should bear these kinds of burdens. Stupid vampire. :p

Wow... That was probably the best episode Craft and Fain have written this season. And I say this as someone who actually liked 'Unleashed' and 'Harm's Way'.

From beneath you, it devours. Err, no, wait... )

Well, that's all I really have to say, since I 've only seen the episode once. Maybe I'll think of something else on rewatch.
